Determination of paternity

The right to know your origins also encompasses your right to know who your father is. Therefore, you have a right to initiate the paternity proceedings against your putative father.

You may determine and have the biological relationship between you and your potential father legally recognized by bringing paternity proceedings.

If you want to establish who your biological father is, you should submit a claim for the determination of paternity to a court of general jurisdiction (civil court). If your putative father has died, you may request the court to determine the fact of paternity.

important You may submit this claim to the court only after you have reached the age of majority.
